Dave & I had a classic 21st century relationship start, meeting on a dating app. I remember thinking that if I could convince him to go on a date I could make him fall in love. Needless to say I convinced him.

It was love at first swipe, but some might have said we were destined for failure. Dave was living the bachelor life in a townhouse in Philly and Pat was living in the burbs with a backyard, a 10 year old with 2 dogs. Dave is a tea guy and I love coffee. Dave enjoys fruit candies and sherbet, I am a sucker for reeses and ice cream. Dave believes in expiration dates and I know they are made up.

In reality our differences and similarities complement each other perfectly. Dave is the kindest person I have ever met, with a gentle heart and is more supportive than I deserve. There is nothing Dave is unwilling to provide unconditional support for, whether it be signing up for a triathalon, working over the weekend, buying a 50 pack of insomnia cookies for a 10 person party, or keeping Advil 10 years after it expired.

I on the other hand….. we’ll I’m still trying to figure out what I bring to the relationship.

Our first date was in July 2019 and started slowly, with dates every few weeks. It took a few months before we introduced each other to friends, family and kid. After about 10 months, covid hit and our relationship accelerated, partially because we weren’t allowed to have contact with other humans 😷.

Over the past 5+ years we have started to build a life together, helping support each other through challenges and victories. Our life has been filled with happiness spending time with Dayton and watching him grow into a life-size adult, spoiling our dogs (Bo & Oreo), running a “5-star” vacation property, visiting friends and families, traveling to fun places like Spain, Mexico, Hawaii, Florida, Colorado and one of our favorites, Wildwood.
